Spirituality has been a topic of interest and reverence for me. I was 13 when I did a Yoga course for children and got my hands on the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. I had to do a course for an extra credit for my honors grad, I chose a one on Zen meditation. That same year, I went for my first Vipassana.
After having bagged an IT job as campus placement that only 13 out of 250 people got through, I had worked in IT for a few years and then taken a sabbatical to decide that I wanted to study media and work as a media person(journalism, photography, voice overs, scripts) - which has been my thing.
My entry into Yoga and Ayurveda happened in a patchy manner in 2017 as I was recovering from the damages of having sustained amoebiasis. I had recovered from E. histolytica.
When I felt that Yoga and Ayurveda was helped me heal, I enrolled for a 900-hour TTC. I wanted to understand the subject better. I was open to the IDEA of becoming a teacher - but never thought I'd actually teach because I did not consider it to be my thing.
So, I turned down a few teaching opportunities, which started in 2017 after people read my article on Vipassana - sometime in 2019 I decided - why not teach?
I did full blown research before teaching my first student as per AVAV. She said whenever she did Yoga with me, her symptoms subsided and she was in a better state of health.
This inspired me to study the subject deeper and I enrolled for my Yoga Therapy Diploma. A teacher suggested that I should enroll for Masters in Yogashashtra at the time she was teaching one of the subjects in my diploma course. But I was debating whether I should go for it or not - but I am glad I enrolled and DID IT!
I write this post as I teach my 196th student - effectively I've been into three professions. None of what I study or work on is a casual affair - that's how I'm with almost everything I do.
In my head when I achieve something I'm like - so what? There's a lot more to be done! So I am taking a moment to reiterate that I have never taken, nor do I ever take anything for granted. Soaking it all in and being grateful ✨💟
