The self-care industry has seen a boom in the 21st century. Now, we see more and more people getting a massage or trying chiropractors, reiki, panchakarma, etc. If there is an active lifestyle change after these treatments – they are beneficial in the long run. Else, it reinforces the thought that self-care can be purchased. And if there is no lifestyle improvement after the treatment, it just becomes passive treatment limited to the clinic. Passive treatments do not develop the willpower, intelligence, effort of the person taking these treatments. Passive treatments require little or no participation from the patient. Hence, the effect of these practices is not long-lasting.
On the other hand, Yoga practice demands and requires active participation. It develops awareness, intelligence, and willpower by strengthening the belief that you must take charge of your life. When the Yoga practitioner spends time on the mat, it helps with the alignment of mind-body – breath. The practitioner can carry that energy to the rest of the day and till the end of their life. The effect of yoga is long-lasting and makes the practitioner empowered. Yoga helps you create your life by making you take individual responsibility for your Ahar (Diet), Vihar (Asana/ Kriya/ Pranayama), Vishranti (Sleep), and Vichar (Thoughts). Yoga tops the list of all the beautiful things that are invaluable.
